I just posted the following on Im41. But as usual, my comments do not show up there:
Currently it depends on the mental issue, if a person loses his/her right to bear arms and has his/her guns taken away. If a person's mental issue makes the person a true danger to society, then we should not want that person to have guns.
The problem would come to be, if people who are experiencing minor mental issues, like stress on the job, or a manageable post traumatic stress disorder, stress headaches, hyperventilating, etc., were not allowed to bear arms and had their guns taken away. --So far that is not happening.
If we conservatives jump the gun (pun intended) and cry wolf, when there is no wolf knocking down our doors and taking guns away from true legal gun owners, we risk not being taken seriously, if it every truly does happen.
