I agree that one cannot be both Muslim and Christian, however it is not because we serve different masters. That opinion tells me that you are confused.

Christians do not serve Jesus any morn than Musims serve Mohammid. At lease no Christians I know serve Jesus. We serve God. We do so by following in the path (the footsteps) of Jesus and we pray and live and serve in the name of Jesus.

Jesus is our brother; he is the light; he is the way; he is the one we need to follow and strive to be like if we are to return home to God.

The biggest difference between Muslims and Christians is that Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, nor do they believe that we are all children of God.

That said, we both do believe in God and we both pray to God, and yes, the same God. The only true difference is our understanding of God.

When you learn about Islam and you begin to understand what Muslims believe, it become clear that they are a very confused people.

In many ways they are alot like Christians. They just haven't put all the pieces together. They are still trapped in ancient times and ancient laws.

On one hand they believe in Jesus, they believe he was special, he was the product of an immaculate conception, they believe it was God who somehow impregnated Mary, and they believe the it will be Him who will be the judge at the End of Days, however they refuse to see the obvious... That Jesus is the Son of God.

Anyways... I have a way of running of on tangents. Sorry about that. =)

Keith, with all due respect my brother...
As Christians we should turn to the Word of God as our ultimate authority, so I shall let the Holy Bible speak for itself...

Scripture clearly says that Jesus was and is God. Philippians 2:6-8 says that Jesus was "in very nature God… but made Himself nothing," and was "found in appearance as a man."
Colossians 1:19 says that "God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him (Jesus)." John 1:1 and 1:14 says that "The Word (Jesus) was with God and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us…" It's pretty clear.

Jesus is "our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13). (Also see John 1:18; Hebrews 1:8; 2 Peter 1:1; 1 John 5:20.) Scripture says that Jesus created all things and holds all things together. (See John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 1:2-3.) It says that He is Lord over all things in heaven, on earth and under the earth (Philippians 2:9-11; Ephesians 1:20-23; Colossians 1:17-18). The Father has put everything under Him (Hebrews 2:8). Jesus now sits at the right hand of God and lives forever to intercede for us (Roman 8:34; Hebrews 7:25, 10:12). He will come again to judge all men (2 Thessalonians 1:5-10). Jesus is God.

The fact that Jesus is God is essential to Christian belief. It is because He is God that He was able to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Many men have died, sometimes very painfully, for their beliefs, but only Jesus could be our savior and redeemer. "For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering" (Romans 8:3).

As for the lady who is the so-called Christian/Muslim priest, she is doing her congregation(s) a great disservice as she is sending them on a straight path to Hell. Sorry for being so blunt, but if I saw that you were lost and did nothing to send you in the right direction, how could I stand before the Creator on Judgement Day and say I was a witness for Him.

I don't believe that Mohammed worshipped the God of Abraham. The evidence is in the crescent moon symbol of Islam. The Episcopal lady's Christian half surely believes the Old Testament? It doesn't speak good for muslims at all, I'm afraid. We can have a later debate on this.

Don't take my word. Read God's and pray that it will give you guidance. Dave

P.S. JimZ... sorry for the length. Did not start out to preach. You know how it goes.

I am very pleased that there is this dialog starting up here. Just want you both to know that I know both of you to be great people - some of my favorite folks on the internet. I hope therefore that the dialog will continue with mutual respect.

And if it doesn't I'll trash you both on my show. *LOL*

No problem as to length. Let 'er rip. Type as much as your little fingers will stand.

Let me just make one thing clear, which may be in question even after my last post. I do believe that Jesus Christ was, is, and always will be divine. He is God, however, he is not God the Father. So many Christian faiths confuse Jesus with God the Father, and even The Holy Spirit. These are three separate entities, working together as One. Jesus was not God the Father visiting Earth in Human form. That notion is simply silly. Anyone well versed in the Bible knows that there is but one God, the Father; Jesus, the Son; and The Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit). They are all separate beings, all work together to bring us, God's children (the Saints), home.

I understand Keith. You are trying to explain the trinity or the Godhead which is a very hard concept to understand. They are separate but one. Jesus, talked to the Father at the cross and in prayer regularly so He was an individual being. How can this be? You may be a father, son, brother, cousin, uncle while at the same time being a man. My ma tried to explain it to me once. She said, "it's like 3-in-1 oil." Don't know if that was a good analogy but I understood her point. I think we're on the same page on this, we're just having trouble expressing ourselves (happens alot for me). I hear Jesus called the Father but never Father God. The LDS singer/composer Michael McLean has a great song that is part of the Forgotten Carols called "Joseph" - I was not His Father, He was mine go the lyrics. Recommended listening if you haven't heard it.
If you are a regular listener of Glenn Beck, he plays it constantly this time of year. Sorry if I offended you with my post. Just trying to help. Take care and God Bless.

I am certainly not offended. I enjoy talking about politics and religion; two issues I am very knowledgeable and passionate about. =) As for the Godhead, I suppose one could think of it as a Marriage. You are a Husband and a Wife, two separate beings, yet they are one; working together with the same purpose, the same plan. Every breath, moment, thought, action, designed to strengthen and nourish the family. God's family includes Jesus, of course, and Jesus's brothers and sisters... us.

Another good anaogy would a Corporation. A board of directors are made up as several individual beings, yet together they make up one board, with one plan, all working together to achieve that plan. The corpoation running Heaven and the plan of salvation is is directed by Gof the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They make one heck of a team, if you ask me. =)

I think I understand where you're coming from when you say Christ is your brother... you mean your "spiritual" brother because you both share the same "spiritual" father. I was getting the impression that you were taking away from the deity of Christ, thus my comments earlier. There's a verse in Matthew 12 where Christ says something like "if you believe in the Father you are my brother or sister." I'm paraphrasing of course, can't remember how it goes.
We can't be a fleshly brother to Christ although he had at least 6 half-brothers & sisters.
We were created, Jesus was not. Like God, He was there in the beginning. He was the Word. I know this stuff is hard to grasp. He is a deity, we are mere humans, and yes, He is worthy of worship.

I was brought up in a non-denominational protestant church, son to a baptist mother and a methodist father. My father was killed when I was 10, my mother married another methodist when I was 15. They are both baptists now. My ma's father as was his father both baptist ministers. My g-g-great-grandfather on dad's side was a Wesleyan minister who participated in the founding of the West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV in the mid 1800's. That's where my family is from. I reside in PA now, one mile from WV. I guess I'm getting back to my roots. My ancestors came to America from Holland in the 1730s and settled in PA. I guess we're Pennsylvania Dutch among other things. Gee this is long. Just wanted to let you know a little about me. Would like to hear from you. Thanks for being a friend.

I would never take away the divinity of Christ. I believe that we are all spirit children to our Father in Heaven. Jesus is both our brother and our God. It is true, this can become very confusing to some, because the scriptures state that God said that there should be no other Gods above me (honorably paraphrasing). Many, and not only Christians, but many God fearing people believe that there is but one God. However, the scriptures clearly teach that the Godhead consists of three: God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Through scripture study we learn that Heavenly Father and Jesus have tangible bodies of Flesh and Bone, while the Holy Spirit has no body, and speaks to us through our spirit. Most contact humans have had with God has been through the Holy Spirit. Though some of the most righteous among us have witnessed far more and have communed directly with either God the Father or Jesus. Many of us struggle to even notice when the Holy Spirit talks to us, because we often believe it to be coming from our own conscience. Even I struggle to recognize the promptings, though I've gotten better, even though the message often may be hard or uncomfortable to manage.

A little bit about me: I was raised in the Mormon church and thankfully learned enough early on my life, because when I was 12 my family stopped attending church. My father is a good man, I love him dearly, however he has horrible self esteem problems and suffers from alcohol and drug abuse. He believes he is not worthy to attend church and refuses to go. He doesn't understand that if any of us were truly worthy we wouldn't need church. Church is there for us imperfect people. It was for this reason I suspect, that we stopped going to church. I was away from church for 17 years before God intervened and reeled me back in, dragging my new family in with me. lol

Over the last 5 years I have done an exorbitant amount of research on the Mormon church, scowling both the church's resources as well as anti-mormon resources. Being an author I have researched a great deal for an upcoming novel I am writing which will focus on the Mormon Church and it's Masonic connections. I can honestly say I know far more than the average Mormon. The good, the bad, and the ugly. And yes, there is plenty of ugly in every religion. As man learns from God, he makes many mistakes. Mormons are no exception. As I like to say, the Gospel is perfect, Man is far from it.

All that said and aside, I truly believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is absolutely on the money with all of the doctrine they teach. And the more I seek reasons to disbelieve, the stronger my testimony becomes. When presenting materials and arguments regarding Mormon Doctrine I support everything with Bible verses and mainstream Christian resources, not Mormon resources. I know that people outside will never consider anything written by Mormons, proof of anything.

In my studies I have found very little written in Mormon scripture that isn't already found, in some form or another, in the Bible. The Book of Mormon simply reinforces the Bible and the Doctrine and Covenants are writings by Mormon Prophets, helping to clarify the meaning of scripture. When I read the Bible I see verse after verse supporting Mormon Doctrine. It drives me nuts knowing how many Christians, reading the very same Bible, refuse to see what is so obvious to me.
