Newt pledges to remove Obama's agenda. And what? Replace it with his own progressive agenda?

Gingrich (Dec. 6, 2011, Glenn Beck radio show), “In fact, if I were going to characterize my – on health where I come from, I’m a Theodore Roosevelt Republican and I believe government can lead in the regulatory leaning is okay.”
What?! Roosevelt was the first president to propose universal health care, paid for by the tax payer. Sound familiar? (Hint; ObamaCare)
Hey Newt! Government has been regulating health care and that is why it
is such a disaster!! We want to get rid of a progressive president NOT
elect a Republican one!!

Good timing Newt. Just as Obama was praising Teddy's progressivism, Newt joins in to also lend his support of big-government progressivism from the Republican side. Three peas in a progressive pod.

Here's something very interesting for you, in case you missed it in '1995 ... I used to have a subscription to wired magazine and remember this cover story and interview with Newt - Didn't read it at the time as I just wasn't into politics in my late teens, so I'm just now reading it for the first time.

I'm definitely impressed. There is a lot I still don't know about Newt -- details of his complete voting record and so on, but the more I learn the more palatable a Newt Gingrich presidency becomes to me when compared to an anti-intellectual like G.W. Bush.

Check out the interview -- It shows how very thoughtful and educated he is on some very important topics of our age. Can you imagine Bush having the same depth and understanding of the topics and questions of that interview?

Both men had their strong suits, both men have their problems. Even Bush could beat Obama in 2012.

As for the voting suppression string....I would go one better that mere photo ID. I would require an "Eligible to Vote" test....something like a driver's license.

This is just too important now to leave it to the unwashed masses. These races need to be decided by the people that understand the gravity of the decision, and not just "...oh, he's black??? I'll vote for him!!"

Yeah, let's make sure voters appreciate conservative principles before we allow them to vote. Wink, wink....;)

Seriously though ... VERY few people voted for Obama because he was black. That's an absurdity to even think otherwise, given the facts. Obama did get something like 90% of the black vote. Regardless, He didn't achieve that because he himself was black. Clinton got 85% of the black vote. Since JFK, democrats have received the majority of black votes. Rightly so given the civil rights track record of both parties since the 1960s.

Either way, back off Steve. We *do not* do a litmus test for voting rights here in America. That would be discriminatory and unconstitional. "Unwashed Masses" ... Meh. You sound elitist.

I believe it is very true that many people of many different races got caught up in the 'first black president' hoopla. That's why they supported him. What other reason was there? They didn't KNOW him; if they had, they would not have voted for him.

Whilst it might be a pipe dream, a voter test, the fact is that many people vote for elected officials and on issues that they cannot possibly understand. Great example: School bonds. Sure! We need schools, let's have us another school bond.

Wait, we're in debt? We can't pay for anything without going into MORE debt? Who did this? Oh yeah, me, voting for that school bond.

Michelle Bachman feeds into the conspiracy hype that Obama's birth certificate might be fake -- and in the same interview says Obama is fomenting discontent. Hypocrisy much? The same woman who suggested a potential "2nd ammendment solution" if conservatives lost elections in 2010?

Anyway, I mentioned to you last week that birtherism is going to rear it's ugly head in this election -- I'm not making it up. Trump is going to try to stoke the fires and make it an issue. He's bringing it up in all his private talks with the candidates, trying to talk them into pushing the issue. So far he's been somewhat successful at this ploy.

----

In response to your last reply: I'm sure some people might have voted for Obama because he is black - It's to be expected -- The black voter turn out was higher in 2008 than in years past. For the most part people didn't care about the color of his skin. I became a fan of Obama in 2004 - even then suggesting to those around me watching the DNC speech that perhaps he should run for president. I was more of a fan of Theresa Heinz Kerry, however -- And not because she was a she. It's the content of their character and idealism that attracted most people - not the color of their skin or the shape of their sexual organs.

What's really scary is the fact that MANY of the candidates themselves don't understand many of the issues. Given the climate of ignorance in America and in Washington -- whenever a candidate appears to be well read and intellectual, they tend to stand out among the crowd. That's one reason why Obama was so popular and got elected. It's also why Newt Gingrich stands a fair chance of beating him.

I guarantee you many people voted for Obama because he's black. And the birther issue is a non-starter. Bachmann might be desperate, but she's not playing with Trump and his debate, so I don't know what she's thinking. Very odd, she's making all the wrong moves now. Look at the front runners if you want to see how the election campaign will go, not the lowest polling candidates.
